October 2021, I became vegan. I literally woke up one day and was like uh I guess I don't want to eat meat anymore? It was weird to me because I grew up eating meat. It wasn't a second thought for me.

As I got older, I began eating healthier, organic, whole foods, not processed. I found my life for clean eating. But in so, I've done all the life-style changes, Paleo, Whole-30, Beach Body, low carb, counting carbs, but something was missing. I felt clouded. I didn't feel fulfilled. And I felt I wasn't living the life that I wanted to. Some might call it a spiritual awakening (me), some might call it a calling, others might just say - It is what it is. I just had this strong feeling to just do it. No turning back. It's April 2022 and I am still on this lifestyle change. It really makes you think how you live your life a certain way for so long, you are conditioned to live that way, it is so natural to you, you might not even see another possible way. But there are always other ways. Other perspectives.
What is my why? Why do I stay vegan? It can't just be because I woke up one day and that is it. No, it is really because of the animals. I am vegan for the animals, not the taste of meat. And that's truly all that it is. I don't choose to eat meat anymore because I feel there are other ways we can live our lives healthily and sustainable without consuming animal protein every day, two/three times a day.
I am still learning, still finding out how to get my protein sources in, but also the other essential nutrients. Protein isn't just the only nutrient you have to worry about when going vegan. B vitamins are essential vitamins that are in animal protein. When you don't eat this type of protein anymore and you are not taking a supplement you can begin to be deficient in that vitamin, leading to annoying side effects no one wants to deal with. I highly recommend that you see a doctor before or even during your early stages of going vegan to ensure you are taking all the right supplements to support this new lifestyle change.
I take Vitamin B Complex by Pure Encapsulations, I also take a Vitamin D complex chew. After my workouts I take a vegan protein powder and also an electrolyte powder. Before buying any of these supplements, talk to you doctor to see if it is right for you. I am still starting out this journey and will be adding more supplements as my doctor sees fit.
Lastly, Pinterest and your local bookstore are your besties. Do research, find time to meal prep and plan your meals ahead in your grocery shopping list. These are essential steps that have helped me. Now that all this is out of the way, you'll find a lot more blog posts on my vegan lifestyle, supplements and products that I love!
Until next time,
Bee
