Goals, intentions, dreams, whatever you like to call it, we like to be a whole new person come January. I wanted this year to be different. I set an intention every year of eating healthy, working out, etc. But then Labor Day comes around, New Hampshire starts to become chilly, and holidays are coming in hottttt. Cue in the overeating and not working out. This year I wanted it to be different. I wanted to start living out to my highest potential.

So here I am...It's that weird week between Christmas and New Years where you want to take down all the holiday stuff and purge your whole house, start new, change, workout, become a better human but low key still want to stuff your face with cookies and watch holiday movies. Okay, let's think... What do I want? I want to stop buying so many useless things just to keep in my house. I want to help reduce my carbon footprint. I want to take care of our Earth. I want to take care of my body and not fill it with chemicals anymore. Not just food but the products I use. I want to buy with a purpose not just because I am bored. I want to literally reduce, reuse, recycle. There it is. Sustainable living. It has to start some

ree

where, right? So how can I make an impact? Where did I start?

I first purged my house. This was literally January 2nd, I was like I DON'T NEED ANY MATERIAL ITEM EVER AGAIN. Okay, that was a little bit much but I got rid of a ton of stuff that I didn't need. I donated all my items to my local thrift store. Now when I am at a store, I truly think about my purchase. Does it bring me joy. Will it bring me joy for a while, does it have a purpose in my home. Do I really NEED it or just want it?

Second, I bought canvas bags for the grocery store and reusable produce bags. Because I have at least 100 Hannaford bags shoved in my kitchen cabinet from countless shopping trips that I felt bad throwing away all these years AND you know those little plastic bags that hold produce? What actual use are they for except for holding produce for the 5 minute drive from the grocery store to my house.. Then I throw them away 10 minutes after unloading my groceries.

Third I started to recycle and looked up my local transfer station in my town. That was an easy one. Every month we go to the transfer station now and drop off our recycling.

Fourth, I switched to plant based products for cleaning. This followed switching to clean beauty products as well. (individual blog posts coming for each of these because it's too long to put here).

These where just small goals that made my large goal obtainable. Helped me see that I can do this, I can make positive changes, I can help our earth.

This isn't just a goal for 2022 this is just the year that I started. It will evolve and grow and change and become better. I will find new ways to reduce my carbon footprint. Find ways I can live out this goal. More to come! Until next time,

Bee
