Hey friends! I created this blog post because I’ve received many questions from my video last week when I was talking about Sun, Moon and Rising Signs. Quick background on me and where this all began. I’ve been fascinated with astrology and astronomy since I was around 5 years old. I even wanted to become an astronaut back in the day. I decided to join an astrology course because all the podcasts I’ve listened to and instagram accounts I’ve followed for years have lead me to the realization that I really should be putting more time into this subject! This is truly a dream of mine and I am so happy that I have 1 - the time to actually pursue it and 2 - a platform that I can share my findings.
What are the zodiac signs- Aries, Taurus, Gemini, Cancer, Leo, Virgo, Libra, Scorpio, Capricorn, Sagittarius, Aquarius and Pisces.
Where are the zodiac signs? There are billions and billions of stars in the sky. Some make up the zodiac constellations and our planets and our moon move through these constellations as they travel around the sun. Our sun rotates on its axis moving through these constellations as well. Of course, the sun doesn’t move as the planets do but it will always be in a different constellation on average every 27 days.

Why does astrology matter? To me astrology is a way of life. I am a spiritual person but also a very logical person where I love science and explanations! Astrology and astronomy give me the best of both worlds. I believe we can use what is “happening” in the universe to help us understand why we are the way we are.
I switch back and forth using sign and constellation in this post. They mean the same thing! Every day the planets and our moon are moving through different signs. Roughly every 27 days the sun also rotates into different signs
The planets, constellations, and all of us have energetic fields. Having yin and yang energy and wildly different characteristics. When a planet or moon or sun moves into a sign (constellation) it will have characteristics /energy based off that zodiac sign (constellation) it is in! I’m going to stop there before getting you confused (more to come on that in a new blog post).

Based on all this we can plan (somewhat) how we live our life, understand and learn more about others, ourselves, and the universe around us. If you have taken yoga you learn that our personal energetic field projects about 3 feet passed our bodies. Now can you imagine how the planets and constellations energy projects to us? That can make us feel some type of way!
For example, when the planet Mercury goes into retrograde I’m sure you’ve heard a lot of chaos happens. Mercury is known to be the ruler of communication and it’s energetic field affects our communication, technology and more.

That being said when Mercury is in retrograde it’s best not to start projects, not travel, slow down and take a breath. This could happen a handful of times per year.
That’s a quick explanation of it all. I can dive more into it if you all would like! Let me know in the comments.
Birth charts! A birth chart is a screenshot of what the sky looked like when you were born. It shows you where the planets, our moon and the sun was placed in what constellation. It is determined by the location, time and day of your birth. For example, I was born in Lawrence MA, on June 20th, 1991 at 2:24 am.
To give you a visual here is what mine looks like. I’m still learning about what all this means so only use this as a visual.

Today we will only talk about Sun, Moon and Rising Signs on a birth chart. Your sun sign is where the sun was physically placed in the zodiac constellation on the day you were born. Your moon sign is where the Moon was physically placed in the zodiac constellation and then your Rising sign is the constellation where the sun was physically rising the day you where born.
Mine for example: I am a Gemini Sun, Libra Moon and Taurus Rising. This means the Sun was in the Gemini constellation when I was born, the moon was in the Libra constellation and the Sun was rising that morning in the Taurus constellation.
What do these mean?
☼Sun Sign- Your identity and role in life. It is the core of who you are and is the sign you are most likely to already know. This is the sign that could help you decided on what the best career is for you.
☾Moon Sign- The moon rules your emotions, moods and feelings. This is the sign you most think of yourself as since it reflects your personality.
↟Rising Sign- Your ascendant, your rising, is the “Mask” you present to people. It can describe your personal style, how you come off to people when you first meet.
So a quick example again to make it all make sense-
♊︎ My Gemini sun makes me a quick-witted, curious, loves networking and chatting, making friends, hanging out with friends, and wants to learn and do all the things. The shadow side (less than pleasant traits) of a Gemini can cause me to overcommit, be impatient, bounce around project to project, not focus on my own self care and can be too focused on what others are doing.
♎︎ My Libra moon makes me really love balance. I love to solve all the problems especially when it comes to people disagreeing. I like to see both sides of every situation and create peace and harmony. But the shadow side of a libra can be very indecisive at times and controlling. Because the moon rules my emotion and feelings this is how my personality is.
♉︎ My Taurus Rising (ascendant) loves to be practical, creative, loves health and wellness, enjoys aesthetically pleasing things and being comfortable, loves music, decorating, fashion and appreciates good food. BUT the shadow side of a Taurus can be stubborn, set in their ways, doesn’t like change. All these are the traits people may see me as.

If you know me, you know all these things are accurate!! I’ve been working on learning all this for about 6 years now and just diving into courses that go more in depth!!
Okay I HOPE that all makes sense. Let me know what you think about this post! Next w’ell be diving into more themes that make up your birth chart. Because there is so much to a birth chart, I am going to break it down as I learn about it. The planets affect who you are as an individual as well and there are the Houses, and Aspects. I would LOVE to do your birth chart so comment below if you want me to do yours!!
Until next time,
Bee
